Crufts Tickets Competition

Well Bloggy friends the draw for the tickets to Crufts took place yesterday. We had lots and lots of entries but sadly only two lucky people could be winners. The names drawn were Natalie from Solihull and Ciara from Wakefield and their tickets are in the post today!

I hope both the winners have a wonderful time at Crufts and enjoy the day and thank you to all the people who entered - hope you can make the show anyway!

It is still possible to buy tickets for this great event and if you follow this link you can find out lots more about the show and how to get your tickets for the day.

As well as the show rings there are lots of stalls to browse with yummy treats for dogs, fun playthings for dogs and clothes and beds and so much more! And if your peeps need a sit down and rest after all the shopping there are places for coffee and meals for them too and lots of activities to watch apart from the show rings. There is agility, Flyball, Obedience and Good Citizen Dog classes taking place as well.

So do try and get along to see what is happening at Crufts - it is a wonderful day for all the family - and under 12s go free!

Phew - just thinking about all that activity has made me tired but I'll be there too reporting from the show so better catch up on snoozing now :-)

Crufts then and now

Crufts is very famous now but not many people know much about how it started and how it has changed so I thought I would tell you a little bit about how it all began.

The show is named after the man who founded it in the nineteenth century. He was called Charles Cruft and he was a very ambitious young man who did not want to go into his family's jewellery business and instead got a job with James Spratt -  a company selling "dog cakes" ....that sounds like a much better job to me BOL. But he did not want to just be selling dog cakes and in 1886 he became manager of the Allied Terrier Club Show in London...and five years later he set up the very first Cruft's Show at the Agricultural Hall in Islington, London.

The first Cruft’s show in 1891 had 2,437 entries and 36 breeds but this year there are 21,427 dogs entered and not only the breed classes but in gamekeepers classes, Obedience and Agility Championships as well. In 2000 Rescue Dog Agility was introduced at Crufts and all these dogs have a wild fun time competing too. As well as these there are Flyball and Heelwork to Music demonstrations and Friends for Life where special hero dogs who help peeps in their time of need are honoured with a special award.

This year 2,995 of the dogs at Crufts have come to the UK from 45 different overseas countries so it is truly an international event.

For anyone who loves dogs, Crufts is the place to be this March. You can find out more about Crufts and book tickets by clicking on this link:      Book tickets

Crufts 2015 Competition Time

Yes Bloggy friends it is that time of year again when we are looking forward to the world's greatest dog show here in the UK - Crufts 2015! Last year my Affen brother Crybbe was a little star for us and came home with not one but two first place rosettes. We are so proud of him :-)

But there is a lot more to Crufts than just the show ring. Over the next four weeks I will be posting about some of the other things that you can see if you go Crufts and then more posts to come when me and Crybbe become Rover Reporters and go along in pawson to the NEC and get some on the spot pictures for you :-)

If you would like to buy tickets for the show then just click on this link and it will take you through

But we do also have a special competition lined up for anyone in the UK who would like to win a pair of tickets to Crufts valid for any one day of the show ( although not including the special Arena Best in Show event on Sunday night which needs a separate ticket ) We have a pair of tickets for each of two lucky winners so do have a go and see if you can win them :-)

All you have to do is to pick which of the following breeds of dog was the Best in Show winner in 2014 and email your choice A B or C to my peeps at crybbe14@gmail.com

A - Giant Schnauzer
B - Affenpinscher
C - Standard Poodle

The competition will close at midnight on Monday 16 February. Please remember to give us your name as the two winners will be chosen at random from all the correct entries received by the closing date and notified by email the following day.
